When we think of the sufferings of Jesus, Mary, and even those of St. Joseph, they teach us that suffering is simply part of our lives, and they show us how we can face, accept, and deal with the suffering that comes to us- sometimes in large ways, and often in smaller ways.
Father Doyle, you knew sufferings of all types, in all degrees. Please help us to accept our suffering with grace and love as did the Holy Family, as did all the saints, and as you yourself did. Help us to see the Hand of God in such situations, and to entrust ourselves to His deep love and wisdom.
