I believe that Our Lord is asking for victims who are willing to suffer much in reparation for sins, especially those of priests. I know some who go so far in their generosity as to do heroic penance, feeling asked it…I know the result has been wonderful grace and burning desire to suffer and always to suffer for Jesus’ love.

Today is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. Our Lady’s life was gifted with great joys and great suffering. Though sinless, Our Lady knew deep and heavy suffering in the loss of saint Joseph, the loss of her only Child, Her Son, Jesus. As sinners we ourselves can expect our share of suffering, though we turn to the sinless Mary for strength and a source of hope and faith.
Father Doyle, you lived the last few years of your life amidst near constant suffering. When things get difficult, please help us to not fear saying “Yes” to God as you did, as Mary did, as St. Joseph, and Jesus did. God will be with us especially during those times with HIs powerful grace.
