A young Willie Doyle on Ash Wednesday was spotted by an aunt as he spoke to himself in a mirror, waving his little fist:
“You villain, you wretch! Not a sweet will you get, not a bit of cake will you get! I’ll starve you!”
Even as a young boy he felt the call to self-denial and penance, which would bear so much fruit in his later life.

Father Doyle. I am looking to make this the best Lent ever. Please pray for me, encourage me to be strong and turn to God when the path gets steep and hard. Amen.
The zeal of young Willie Doyle!
Father Doyle, once again as we enter the season of Lent, please help us to not be afraid of the little sacrifices that we can make during these 40 days. Imitation of our Lord is such a good way to draw closer to His life, and in turn, focus on how we can help others rather than focusing on ourselves. Please keep us strong with your intercession on our behalf, so in need we are of your generous, compassionate assistance. Especially intercede for 15 year old Danny in the U.S. as he fights cancer.
